Deze extensie versleuteld tijdens het inloggen het wachtwoord als deze van client naar server wordt verstuurd. Het werkt als een alternatief voor SSL gebruikmakend van RSA om wachtwoorden te versleutelen. Het is aanbevolen om bcmath geïnstalleerd te hebben op de server (standaard vanaf PHP4.0.4). Indien dit niet is geïnstalleerd wordt teruggevallen op DES.
